We are constantly looking for people to join us. Currently we have 3 vacancies for committee members as well as volunteers. There are no special requirements to join us as long as you have an interest in the cause and can commit some time.
Time commitment:
- Committee members – one hour every month. One year commitment.
- Volunteers: 1 hour every quarter
Here are some examples of activities that you can help in:
- Awareness activities. Organise basic awareness activities such as organising history and conservation talks and dropping flyers to the community.
- Conservation support. Ask for and understand council’s conservation plans, share those plans with the community and also follow-up on these plans to ensure that they are being delivered.
- Networking. Network with other conservation and heritage associations in Casey and build mutually beneficial relationships.
- Venue promotion. Promote the Elms area as a venue for educational and fun use with the neighbourhood schools, kindergartens etc so that kids can grow up appreciating our Elms.
- Quarterly get together. Organise quarterly tree-checking and litter-picking activity with a group of volunteers and possibly end the session with a BBQ at the BBQ shed.
- Christmas Under the Elms. Organise Christmas Under the Elms annually to create awareness, build understanding and commitment to expand volunteer base and raise funds.
- Other community activities. Organise other ad-hoc nature-loving activities under the Elms such as yoga, painting, poetry etc that brings the community together under the Elms.
